Since I get so many people complaining about my chosen career path in this game, I figured I should explain myself. This post is dedicated to anyone I've ever been in contact with and to any that I may come in contact with in the future.
I'm a pirate. I kill people for my own personal gain. I'll shoot at anyone I see no matter how old the character is or what ship they're in if I think I can destroy it in an efficient manner and collect their remains afterwards. Alternatively, I'll take an amount of ISK from the victim that I deem fair in exchange for their destruction. Money is power. I want a lot of it, and I don't care how I get it.
You see, I'm a big fan of this whole "Risk vs Rewards" thing that people are always talking about as long as the risk is low and the rewards are high. The best way to get a lot of money with little risk is to use overwhelming force to take it from those who have earned it themselves.
So why is it that people expect me to be some kind of space samurai that wanders the stars challenging opponents to fair duels for my family's honour or some BS like that? Why are people so shocked that I use overpowering force, overwhelming numbers, or trickery to gain more of the ISK that I crave so much? Do they really think I'm looking for a fair fight?
No, I want you dead as fast and easily as I can. I want you dead so I can loot your remains and sell them. You know that named cargo expander or faction hardener you have? I want that too, and I'll kill you to get it. I'll lie to you, I'll ambush you, I'll do whatever is in my power to grab it from you. Why do you think I have such a low security status? Do you really think I got it from getting into duels with people?

Funny that, I'm actually railing against smacktalkers who spout nonsense about honour and whatnot. I don't know how you take that as waving anything around. If anything, I'm against people who like to wave their thingy around when they talk about honour.
Edit: What spurred me to post this thread is a run-in I had today with another pirate. I had an aquaintance challenge him to a 1vs1. Of course, it wasn't going to be a fair 1vs1. I gave my friend fighters. Amusingly enough, the other guy also brought some friends to the fight.
But even then, he wouldn't shut up about "honour" and whatnot in local chat afterwards. What, was I supposed to be honourable?

Or you are telling that you do not honour 1vs1`s?
There's this common misconception that pirate are supposed to be honourable. What, there's honour in killing people and taknig their stuff? News to me.
But yeah, I never fight people in duels. They're pointless and not profitable.

Thanks, Karille. I guess I was too subtle with my post. I was trying to give people a look at the mentality of a pirate. I don't know why they think I'm trying to wave something around.
